September 22, 2001
HAMILTON, MA. -
The Dracut Girls Soccer lost their first game of the season, a 4-1 decision to Hamilton-Wenham, in the first meeting between the two schools. Dracut is now 4 - 1 overall, 4 - 0 in the MVC. Hamilton-Wenham improves to 4 - 3.
Dracut got on the board first with a goal by Sarah Dahlinher assisted by Nichole Masse ten minutes into to the first half. Carrie Plitt of H-W tie the score at 1 - 1 when she beat goal keeper Micheala Anthony with 3 minutes remaining.
Michelle Barry put Hamilton-Wenham ahead for good 1 minute into the second half. H-W then went on to score two more goals to extend their lead.
"The lost was disappointing," head coach Wayne Currie said. "You have to give Hamilton-Wenham credit, they play an excellent game and really disrupted us. It's a good wakeup call for us."
Sophomore Keeper Michaela Anthony and Freshman Keeper Jennifer Cole shared time in net.
Playing well for the Middies were Kelly Nicolls, Rachel Isabelle, Kacie McGlasson, and Amanda Stafford.
The Middies will return to action Wednesday night when they entertain Methuen under the lights. The Junior Varsity will play at 5:30 and the Varsity game begins at 7:00 p.m.
